50 Milliion Car Buyers Cannot Be Wrong!

Corolla Car Review

Introduced in 1966, almost sixty years ago, across twelve generations, fifty million people worldwide have bought into what the Toyota Corolla stands for. It is the archetypal car for the masses and for very good reasons.

It has been said that what people have bought is not so much a car but a nameplate since the different versions have very little to do with each other. However, that’s beside the point, it is what car buyers have bought into that matters.

From the start, the car was designed to appeal to businesses and fleet buyers. The fact that the car doubles up as a very good family car, with four seats and a generous boot is not lost on company car drivers. It is as practical for a family of two adults and two children, plus the ubiquitous family pet dog, as it is for an on-the-road sales rep selling shoes or widgets and grommets.

My wife and I are childless and getting on in years, yet we still have a use for the Corolla. My wife bought the car second-hand six years ago. And we are happy to report that there has not been a single mechanical or electrical issue with the car. That is what the legendary Toyota reputation for reliability brings you, the peace of mind that it will never let you down.

Our Fielder, a 2014 model identical to the one pictured, has now done 100,000 miles and still drives like new. Being a well-specced hybrid estate, the car combines economy with practicality and reliability. Although the car is no Tesla off the mark at the traffic lights, it easily keeps up with modern traffic. Throw creature comforts like air conditioning and an excellent sat-nav system into the mix, and it is no wonder the car is such a big seller.
